Government Medical College, Ernakulam (GMCE) is one among the premier Medical Instutions in the Kerala State. The Medical College is later known as Cochin Medical College, Cochin was governed by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education established by the Government of Kerala. Later from December 2013 the Government of Kerala taken over the Medical College and renamed as Government Medical College, Ernakulam and now this institution is under the control of Directorate of Medical Education, Kerala.

A student is eligible for entry to the course after clearing the 12th class (Intermediate) examination. The admission to the 100 MBBS seats are based on the allotment of Controller of Entrance Examinations, Kerala.  The functioning of the college is according to the rules and regulations formulated by the Government of Kerala.

Nationality: Admission is open to all Indian citizens.
